ecuador
here we go, yawl holla if yah hear me go and wanna feel me flow ho!
just for the record, it was at least an hour long salsa lesson, learning the same thing...again so it was a shitty lesson, but was fun dancing.
Leaving Colombia has been fun. The bike stereo only lacks some brackets speaker mounts, and automatic shut off for the battery charger.
The hotel in Pasto was cool. Very spacious and spread out, with a crappy bar/tienda inside.
My bike has attracted some weird bronze thing flying on the front of the boom. Perry found a little angel carrying a torch. I got the bottom of it threaded and mounted it on the bike. Now it looks like an angel is flying in front of my bike. The coolest part is that the angel is carrying a torch...with the fire from hell! I´m not sure wich is cooler, the tunes or the torch.
We hitchiked up some shitty roads, it was great.
one day after riding a bit we stopped in a village and were surrounded by kids while trying to hitchike. So we didn´t get picked up easily, but I did get rid of a bunch of recuerdos to all the kids. For some odd reason I was not annoyed this day. I told everyone that had a question about where we were from to ask the first 3 kids that already got the answeres. That made it a lot easier and funnier. More people where joking and laughing, the only bad part is that we didn´t get to far that day. Instead we rode about 4 or 5 k more and ended up at a strip bar along the highway. It was a slow day, so the guy working said we could stay the night. ONly 3 people showed up after us. 2 strippers and thier lacky that carries the suitcases. We cooked dinner and drank beer. Took funny pictures of some crazy sex chair that can also be used to deliver babies in a pinch. That was a funny night. The people seemed normal and not annoying. They didn´t ask 50 annying questions. Lately I´ve also had a lot of fun making funny stuff up about Perry top tell to strangers. Telling stories like this is a lot more fun than answering the same questions. I´ll be glad when I can tell stories funnier in spanish.
When we got to the border of Colombia and Ecuador, we met a couple people traveling by bus and foot. They were really nice hippies. One guy was a total space cadet getting in touch with his spiritual curiosities. I basically just listened to a bunch of hullabullooo from him and told him I don´t believe in god. Then he told me that not believing is correct, because that is the same as making god 0 and in being 0 or nothing, I am believing what god wants everyone to think, that nothing is everything and god exist.
Why do people say shit like this to me. I actually felt less intelligent after listening to him. But it was kinda funny listening to him try to form complete sentences, in English.
His girlfriend was funny and more interesting. They gave us some fun gifts and we gave them some gifts. They said they didn´t find any hot springs or water falls in Ecuador, but we found some the next day, so I don´t think they were talking to people or looking at maps, just the travel guide book that doesn´t have the badass secret spots in them.hahah.
hopefully they find the places we told them about in Colombia. They where nice.
We left and saw some cyclists, we caught up, passed them, then they passed us on a climb and an hour later we saw them returning. We found some hot springs and amazing waterfalls. We also met some super nice indegenous peeps that hooked us up with a place to stay and great food. Yummy.
The next day we checked out the waterfalls and found some bomberos. They where really laid back and cool. They also gave us a ride into Quito. It was nice, but we missed a huge, long, drop into the city.
Now we are staying with a super awesome nice gal we met at Samuc Champey. Her name is Marcela and was traveling with a German friend when we met. When we met, She said she loves showing people around Ecuador so I was excited to find out that she remembered us and wanted to meet up. So far Ecuador has been awesome! I´m excited to not be pressed to leave the country also. We have 90 days to enjoy Ecuador and it´s full of beautifull places that we get to go to.
We also get to meet Perry´s parents tonight. I´m excited. Are they as weird as he is. Guess I´ll find out.
woohoo.
cheers,
Austin
