It would happen to me. The new recumbent is missing a few important parts. LIke the seat for example.
So what to do now? Stuck in a city that is costing all 3 o us enexpected costs and keeping us from an amazing river running out of a cave in the side of a cliff and crashing 30 meters into a cool pool of fresh water.
I guess I?ll be trying to call DAve in Denver and see what he has to say, but HP VELOTECHNIK should be footn?the bill for this. How can you forget the chair for this bike, it?s one or two of the biggest parts to attach to the bike. Now we have to stay here until we ind out how long it will take to get the seat/chair.
This is what I wrote to my Mom who has helped a tremendous amount in aquiring the bike, and Dave, the man I ordered the bike from who has also made it possible to get.
We met up with Gina and got everything back to the hotel without a problem. Thanks for putting everything together for me. Everything looks great and the shoes fit fine. I won?t really know how they feel until I can ride the bike, which will take a probably take a while since they forgot to include the seat and some hardware. This is a message I sent to Dave about it.
Hey Dave,
Bad News. We met up with Gina and the bike last night. We got it put together as much as we could but it seems to be missing at least 2 parts. The seat was not included in the box. There are no holes in the box big enough for the seat to fall out or be pulled out. I think I?m missing a couple of mounting brackets.
Here are a few questions and concerns I have.
How long will it take to get a seat to Tuxtla Gutierrez?
Will I have to wait for a seat to travel from Germany to You and then Here or do you have a seat that you can send to me and they can send one to you? I really hope this problem can be solved quickly.
There are 3 people in Tuxtla and 1 person still at school near San Cristobal that we are meeting back up with by friday. It?s about a 2 1/2 day ride back to meet up with Ariel at the school. The plan was to meet up with Gina, assemble the bike, leave the next day and camp out at a cave and waterfall and meet up with Ariel for free. Now we are short 1 working bike and stuck in the city where we have to pay for a hotel or hostel.
It?s obvious that they just slipped and forgot to put the seat in the package. Maybe they ate lunch at a hash bar or coffee shop. I dunno but..The whole thing was wrapped in bubble wrap and pieces of cardboard where placed between all parts and bubble wrap.
It does have 2 metal pieces that look as if they attach to a seat and looks like it should have another piece for the top part of the seat to attach to a quick release lever. It is also missing the headrest and any mounting gear necessary for attaching it. They included 6 screws and 4 larger screws or bolts that look like they might attach somewhere and a green bottle of something, probably grease or glue. The 4 larger screws have some green paint on them same color as the frame.
I also recall ordering yellow rear bags and black front bags, but that?s of no worry to me, especially since that doesn?t keep us in the city.
